Inspired by the courts of Lucrezia Borgia, this floor-length Italian Renaissance gown is crafted from dark purple iridescent charmeuse layered over a lavender floral satin underskirt. The empire waist creates a classic Italian Renaissance silhouette, featuring both adjustable back and side lacing, plus a decorative front lacing panel with a lattice design at the bodice. Finished with spice-toned orange velvet trim, coordinating lacing and sleeve ties, and dark purple braided trim throughout.

The slashed puff sleeves include adjustable, removable cuffs — easy to style open or closed, and designed to show off a decorative chemise underneath. A true layering piece. Pair it with a set of Tudor stays to create an even more authentic silhouette.

Details

This corset was lovingly designed in our studio in Sebastopol, California and handmade in China using sustainable small batch production methods. This corset boasts a number of notable features, including:

-Cotton canvas lining which makes this corset breathable and comfortable to wear
-Hand-set bronze grommets
-Synthetic whalebone plastic boning. This type of boning is specially selected for its flexibility and strength, allowing it to gradually confirm to your body shape as your body heat softens the plastic.
-Extra-strong double sided satin lacing ribbon, suitable to withstand many lacings
-Front and back corset lacing, which allows for greater adjustability as your body changes and fluctuates
- Adjustable straps to get the perfect fit

Sizing

Please see the last photo for our size chart. We recommend choosing a size based on your bust and underbust measurements. Your underbust is the space directly under your bust, across your rib cage (where a bra band usually sits). The dress must be tight here in order to provide bust support. Therefore, it is best to choose a size which first fits your underbust measurement, then your bust measurement.

If your measurements fit into two sizes, you should size down if you want a more snug fit and don't mind having a lacing gap in the sides, front, and back. If you want the dress to close completely, choose the larger size (being sure that your underbust measurement is within this size range).

Italian Renaissance gowns were historically worn over a set of Tudor or Elizabethan stays, though it is not necessary. If you want to wear this gown over a corset, take your measurements while wearing your corset. Folks with larger busts may prefer to wear this gown over a corset for better bust support and lift. This gown does not have very much boning.

Care Instructions

To keep your corset in its best condition, we recommend always wearing a garment like one of our chemises between the corset and your skin. This, combined with leaving your corset to air out after each wear should be all the are you need to keep your corset clean.

In the event that you must do a deeper cleaning, we recommend dry cleaning only.
